Traditional Option (2 years)
The traditional option is for freshman and transfer students (including Baptist Bond) who meet the requirements for admission to the baccalaureate degree in nursing program. Students who have enrolled at Barry University as a freshman must complete all pre-requisites before applying for the nursing program. Transfer students may have up to nine (9) credits of pre-requisites to complete before applying for the nursing program. However, sciences and other selected courses must be completed by all applicants before applying to the nursing program.
Qualified LPN students will be accepted into the traditional option program. In addition to the requirements needed for this option, the LPN must achievement of at least an 80% average in practical nursing coursework; and, holds a current Florida L.P.N. license or proof of eligibility to sit for the NCLEX-PN. The LPN may test out of two required courses: NUR212 Therapeutic Nursing Interventions (3 credits) and DIN271 Nutrition in Clinical Care (3 credits).
The Traditional option nursing program is five semesters long including one summer. It begins in fall and ends in the second spring semester.
