Discounts

30% tuition discount for all registered nurses in the RN to BSN program. If you are a registered nurse enrolled full- or part-time in baccalaureate courses you will automatically receive this discount.

Note: Most financial aid administered by the Barry University Financial Aid Office requires the student to be a U.S. Citizen or eligible non-citizen. Most aid is also designated for full-time students, unless otherwise stated.

Scholarships

AACN - CampusRN.com offers scholarship programs to support students seeking BSN, MSN, or PhD in nursing. Applicants must register for free with CampusRN.com and demonstrate a need for financial assistance. $2,500 will be distributed every two months through this program. Loans

Federal Perkins Loan
Need-based loan with an annual limit of $4000 with an interest rate of 5%. Funds are limited. (Barry Financial Aid Office: Aida Claro 305-899-3673)

Southwest Student Services, Sallie Mae Company and Stafford Loans Southwest Student Services, a Sallie Mae company, offers Nursing Students the Nursing Advantage Loan program, where students can conveniently apply for both Federal Stafford Loans and Signature Private Loans in one easy step. The Southwest Federal Stafford Loans have 0 fees and allow students to receive up to 3 % principal loan reduction after 36 on-time monthly payments. The Southwest Signature Loan offers students interest rates from Prime minus 0.25% to Prime plus 2.50%. (Barry Financial Aid Office:  Aida Claro 305-899-3673)  

Handsel Nursing Loan Fund
Small need-based emergency loan fund of $100 - 500 per year with an interest rate of 3%. Funds limited. (Barry Financial Aid Office:  Aida Claro 305-899-3673)  

Parent Loan for Undergraduate Students (PLUS)
Credit based Federal loan for the difference between the costs of education minus other financial aid with a variable interest rate capped at 9%. Repayment begins immediately following disbursement. (Barry Financial Aid Office: Aida Claro 305-899-3673)

Hospital Grant-for-Work Programs

Baptist Health Systems of South Florida
Total scholarship of $7500 and a stipend for books and fees for full-time students with GPA of 3.0 in return for 12 months commitment of full-time or 24 months commitment of half-time employment at a Baptist Health Systems South Florida after training program of 3 months. Kendall Medical Center Nursing Scholarship Program

Memorial Health Care Systems

Mercy Hospital in Miami , FL

Miami Children's Hospital
Will award two scholarships per year for $8000 per year for the full-time junior and senior year students with a GPA of 3.0 and interest in pediatrics in return for one year of employment at Miami Children's Hospital for every year of scholarship. Florida Pre-Paid College Program

Florida Resident Access Grant (FRAG)

Florida Student Assistance Grant (FSAG)

Florida Tuition Reduction Grant (FTRG)

Baptist Health South Florida, Nurse Associates
Yearly, $750 Charlotte Dison, RN, Nursing Scholarships for students who are enrolled in an undergraduate nursing program in Miami-Dade County or Monroe County area, a US citizen, a Florida resident, and have completed at least one semester of nursing courses with a 3.0 GPA. The Indian Health Service (IHS)

U.S. Air Force

US Nursing Education Loan Repayment Program
The Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) is now taking applications for the Nurse Education Loan Repayment Program (NELRP) which provides up to 85% of student loan debt for nurses who work in eligible facilities located in areas experiencing a shortage of nurses. The purpose of the NELRP is to assist in the recruitment and retention of professional nurses dedicated to providing health care to under served populations. Applications are due June 14. Determination of which eligible applicants will receive an award is based on a four-tier preference scale based on the availability of funds.
