CPR Classes

You can learn to save a life by taking a cardio pulmonary resuscitation or basic life support class. With the skills and knowledge that you learn upon completing a CPR class, you will be able to recognize emergencies, such as sudden cardiac arrest and know how to respond to these emergencies. Cardiac arrest is a leading cause of death in many parts of the world and increasingly is a health concern amongst the nation. In the United States and Canada, approximately 350,000 people per year have a cardiac arrest and receive attempted resuscitation. This number does not include the substantial number of victims who have an arrest and do not receive attempted resuscitation.

Getting a certification in CPR means that you will be able to use an automated external defibrillator (AED) and learn how to relieve choking (foreign-body airway obstruction). You will also be able to help victims of all ages, while practicing CPR in a team setting.

The information and skills that you will learn in this class are the following:

  • Initiating the Chain of Survival
  • Performing prompt, high-quality chest compressions for adult, child, and infant victims
  • Initiating early use of an AED
  • Providing appropriate rescue breaths
  • Practicing 2-rescuer team CPR
  • Relieving choking
