Director, Masters of Science Nurse Practitioner and DNP Programs
Andra Hanlon, Ph.D., ARNP, CPNP
Welcome to the NP and DNP programs at Barry University’s Division of Nursing. We are pleased to have this opportunity to tell you about our master’s, post-master‘s and doctoral programs rooted in clinical practice and focusing on improving the quality of life for diverse populations.
The Division of Nursing offers MSN degrees and post-master’s certificates in two clinical tracks: family nurse practitioner and adult acute care nurse practitioner. We recognize that the majority of nurses wishing to complete these advanced degrees are working adults with families. Therefore, we offer a part-time program which can be completed in 8 semesters year-round.
The Division of Nursing also offers a doctorate in nursing practice (DNP) degree (post-master’s) for those nurses in advanced practice (nurse practitioners and administrators) who desire a terminal degree with a strong emphasis on advance practice components. This program is also a part-time program as the majority of advance practice nurses have full-time work commitments and family obligations. This degree may be completed in 7-8 semesters year-round.
The Division of Nursing also offers a post-baccalaureate DNP degree as an alternative to the MSN Degree. Students enrolled in this program receive both and MSN degree and may sit for national certification as an NP and the DNP degree upon graduation. This program may be completed part-time over 12 continuous semesters.
The faculty in these programs are all certified practicing nurse practitioners/clinicians , involved and well-versed in clinical projects, and committed to providing evidence-based and quality educational experiences for our students.
Our students have access to an extensive network of resources in nursing and healthcare. To learn more about our programs, I encourage you to explore our website . I look forward to meeting you sometime in the near future.
Sincerely,
Andra Hanlon, PhD, ARNP, CPNP
