Program of Study

The program requires at least 38 credits beyond the master’s degree in nursing and is designed to meet the needs of students through part-time study while maintaining outside employment. Courses progress through fall, spring and summer, with 3 intersession courses which take place either one week before the fall semester begins or one week before the summer semester begins.

  • Scientific Foundations for Doctoral Nursing Practice (3 credits)
  • Healthcare Informatics for Doctoral Nursing Practice (3 credits)
  • Translational Research for Doctoral Nursing Practice (4 credits)
  • Capstone Seminar I (1 credit, Spring Intersession)
  • Epidemiology & Biostatistics (3 credits)*
  • Evaluation Methods for Doctoral Nursing Practice  (3 credits)
  • Healthcare Economics Doctoral Nursing Practice (3 credits)
  • Capstone Seminar II (2 credits, Spring Intersession)
  • Global Leadership Strategies (3 credits)*
  • Bioethics (3 credits)*
  • Residency (4 credits)**
  • Capstone (4 credits)**

*PhD in Nursing students also take this course.
