Responsibilities of the Office of Grants and Sponsored Programs (OGSP)
The responsibilities of the Office are varied and include, but are not limited to:
- coordinating and monitoring the development, review and approval of university-wide grant proposal submissions;
- ensuring both institutional and funder policies and procedures are followed in grant programming;
- meeting with Deans, faculty and staff periodically to review program priorities and identify appropriate ways to strengthen and expand projects;
- conducting proactive research to identify potential funding sources for designated projects;
- disseminating funding opportunities via the university's News Bulletins on a weekly basis;
- providing technical assistance support (assisting faculty and staff to develop grant proposals for department, school or division-based programs, projects and activities) from program conceptualization to submission;
- providing limited community and Barry-specific statistical and demographic data for grant applications;
- assisting with funder-specific forms and on-line submission processes;
- conducting grant-related trainings for faculty, staff and students;
- serving as a clearinghouse for a wide variety of grant-related information, including funding opportunities, resources for proposal writers, etc.;
- assisting in the administration of the annual Faculty Incentive Grant Program;
- working closely with Development staff in the identification and cultivation of potential donors to the University with a specific emphasis on private funding sources (e.g. foundations and associations);
- developing grant proposals for high priority programs, projects and activities with an emphasis on those that involve two or more schools or divisions, and;
- managing selected grant programs to ensure compliance with all applicable stipulations, limitations and reporting requirements identified by funders.
