Highlighting the spiritual
dimensions of a variety of areas, topics have included literacy, immigration, interfaith relations and Habitat for Humanity.
Angie Curreri, a Fine Arts professor at Barry, in an episode called Art and Spirituality: To the Heart of the Matter, spoke of feeling called to use her gift for art to give back to the community. Curreri calls her art an expression of love that she hopes is carried over into her everyday life.
Interviewed for an episode on the spirituality of people in exile, Leonor Esnard, OP and Jorge Presmanas, OP, Dr. Alicia Marill and Mrs. Caridad MacNamara, spoke of being sustained by their faith in a time of great fear and uncertainty. All fled Cuba as children unprepared for the life that awaited them in the United States. In this touching episode, they shared the conviction that despite the adversity they faced, separation from parents and loved ones and unsure of what the future would bring, they were always certain that God was with them, watching over them.
Earth spirituality, was the focus of another episode. “Human are part of the Earth community”, Patricia Siemen, OP, reminded us. “We need to know our place in right relationship to that community. Right relationship is always a spiritual matter.”
A total of 11 episodes were produced. Many of the areas covered are Dominican or Dominican-related ministries. |
