Cantate! Praise God in Song!

Approximately 125 participants gathered at Barry University on October 20, 2007, for a day of workshops designed specifically for pastoral musicians.  Cantors, choir members, song leaders, parish musicians and directors of music found CANTATE! a rewarding way to spend a Saturday!

The Keynote Address, “The Ministry of the Cantor,” was given by Mary Beth Kunde-Anderson,senior editor for World Library Publications and former director of music for the Archdiocese of Miami.

Breakout Sessions, offered in both the morning and the afternoon, included:

  • Musica en Liturgia: Share new music and ideas with experienced pastoral musicians
  • Vocal Coaching for Cantors: Prepare a responsorial psalm and learn how to improve your skills
  • Cantor Certification Info.: What is It? Why do it? And How? (National Association of Pastoral Musicians)
  • Music for the Psalms: Explore musical settings of the psalms; World Library Publications

Cantate! was co-sponsored by the Center for Dominican Studies and the Miami Chapter of the National Association of Pastoral Musicians, and supported by the Worship Office of the Archdiocese of Miami.
