Barry University’s Andreas School of Business earns extended AACSB Accreditation seal

MIAMI (Sept. 12, 2019)Barry University’s Andreas School of Business has obtained extended accreditation by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB-International). AACSB, a global nonprofit founded in 1916, has only accredited 5% of the business colleges worldwide, which have applied and met the organization’s standards of excellence.

AACSB Accreditation ensures a school is providing its students with a challenging, relevant education that prepares them for the professional world.

In order to earn and sustain business accreditation, an institution must align with a set of 15 business accreditation standards that focus on mission and strategic management; support for students, faculty, and staff; innovation in learning and teaching; and academic and professional engagement of students and faculty.

The Andreas School of Business also received commendations for its diverse student body, the school’s deep community impact, and the faculty and staff’s exemplary support to the students and commitment to Barry’s Mission, according to Caryn Beck-Dudley, chair of the AACSB Board of Directors.

“We fully embrace Barry’s Core Commitments and deliver a powerful and transformative experience for our students,” said Joan M. Phillips, dean of the Andreas School of Business. “Our faculty embodies our commitment to knowledge and truth as they are the leading experts in their field. We are committed to ensuring that our diversity reflects our inclusive community. And, our active and experiential learning projects are motivated by our commitments to social justice and collaborative service within our community.”

Not only is this news good for Barry, the prestigious distinction gives students a competitive advantage. Many major companies recruit exclusively from AACSB-accredited institutions. It’s also reported that graduates earn higher salaries.

AACSB Accreditation is known worldwide as the longest standing, most recognized form of accreditation that delivers on the promise to prepare the next generation of leaders.
