Students who are transferring in the fall from another academic institution, such as a community college or another university, will attend a 1 1/2 day New Student Orientation program . You will become acclimated to the academic life on campus by meeting with your advisor and check out the many schools and majors Barry University has to offer. Once familiar with the academic program of choice, you will finalize your class schedule for the semester.
New Student Orientation
New Student Orientation helps you understand what it means to become a Barry Buccaneer and “Live a Barry Life” before classes start. You will learn about university resources and get to know your way around campus. You will enjoy team-building activities, workshops, and information sessions all designed to enhance your experience at Barry. Before you know it, you will have all the information you need to Live a Barry Life.
**Please note that the below dates ARE REQUIRED for all new students with less than 30 credit hours

- August 16th – Move In
(All New Student residing on campus are required to move in between 10:00am – 4:00pm)
- August 17th – If you have NOT taken a placement test, been advised, or registered for classes you will
be able to do so. If you have, be prepared for fun activities and extra time to set up your room!
- August 18th – Registration and advising will take place until 12:00pm. Beginning at 1:00pm, after lunch, you will get to know all the resource Barry has to offer and most importantly meet the class of 2021!
- August 19th – Start your Saturday morning with breakfast in Roussell Dining Hall and then some Team Building Activities with the Class of 2021 as we kick off Weeks of Welcome and you get your official class shirt!
- August 20th – New Student Investiture is the official welcoming ceremony for new students to Barry University.
