A Message from the Procurement Department: Update on Business Center Services

IST Management, Barry University’s mail service provider, would like to update the Barry community on initiatives underway this week to increase our overall service levels in the Business Center for everyone at Barry University.  

We are aware operations are still not in line with Barry’s service expectations. As before, we sincerely apologize. Our goal is to have a mail room that operates at the highest levels of efficiency, accuracy, professionalism, and friendliness. 

To better achieve these goals the following actions have been taken:

  • Extra staff has been onsite all week processing all backlogged packages. Every package has now been entered into our system and all departments should have received package receipt tickets in their mailboxes for packages received to date. Please contact us at businesscenter@barry.edu  if you feel you should have received a package receipt ticket and have not. (Please include package tracking number in your message.) 

  • Effective Monday, Sept. 15, 2014, we have moved the package pickup location to Thompson Hall, room 116, down the hall from the Miller Studio. This will allow for a more efficient pickup process. IST will have at least one staff member in the package room at all times during our business hours.

  • IST is now processing all incoming packages on the same day they are received and all departments should have their package receipt tickets in their mailboxes no later than 9:00 am the next business day. 

  • IST will respond to all email inquiries within four (4) business hours of receipt.

  • IST will remain open until 7 p.m. until further notice. 

Average wait times have decreased each day this week, however, we find we are experiencing the longest lines during the lunch hours (11:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m.) We encourage you to take advantage of the slower business times either early in the morning or later in the afternoon to reduce the chance of an unwanted wait. 

Everyone at IST thanks the Barry community for their continued patience and support. We are confident we are headed in the right direction, and expect your future interactions with our staff and overall experience will be positive.
