Men's Golf No. 2 in GCAA National Poll

NORMAN, Okla. – Barry University men’s golf team is tied for No. 2 in the Golf Coaches Association of America poll released Friday.

The Buccaneers, who held the No. 1 spot since May 24, 2013 when they won the first of their two straight NCAA Division II National Championships, still received the most first place votes (8). The Bucs held the No. 1 ranking for 519 consecutive days.

Nova Southeastern, who jumped ahead of Barry in the poll, received six first place votes.

Barry collected 402 points, while the Sharks had 410. South Carolina-Aiken, which received three first place votes, also had 402 points to move up a spot from its previous No. 3 ranking into a tie with the Bucs. Chico State is fourth with 343 points, and Cal State Monterey Bay fifth with 265.

No. 6 Lynn, No. 11 Saint Leo, No. 17 Florida Southern and No. 19 Florida Tech make up four of the six Sunshine State Conference schools ranked in the top 25. Rollins, also a part of the SSC brethren, is receiving votes. The SSC, which Barry competes in, is a current league of nine member institutions which will expand with the additions of Embry-Riddle and Palm Beach Atlantic in the coming years.
