Important information about the Mandatory Student Insurance Policy

Beginning with registration for fall 2018 semester, Barry University will require that all full-time undergraduate and all full-time graduate students (excluding students enrolled in online programs) be fully covered by health insurance valid in the state of Florida.

To assist with this process, all full-time undergraduate students(excluding PACE and Online programs) and all full-time graduate students will be billed, up front, at the time of registration, for one semester of student health insurance. If you have private insurance coverage that meets the waiver standards you may waive the student health insurance and have the amount billed for that semester credited back to your student account. To review the waiver standards before completing the wavier go to www.barry.edu/health-services.  If you do not meet the waiver standards, you will receive an immediate denial notification and cost the insurance will remain on your student account for the semester you are registering.

The Barry University student health plan is a wonderful benefit that is available to all full-time registered Barry University students. The plan is a nationwide United Health Care PPO plan with a very low deductible of $600 that covers 80% of medical cost after the deductible is met.  The cost of the plan breaks down to $159 per month or $5.25 per day!  This is often much less than what you or your parents are presently paying for insurance.

Barry University respects the students’ choice to select their own coverage.  If you have private coverage that meets the waiver standards, please follow the directions below to complete the insurance waiver. Students MUST complete an insurance waiver and upload a copy of their insurance card after they registered for the fall semester within the first 30 days of the semester. An email will be sent to the students’ email when they have been registered notifying them that the waiver is available for completion.

The insurance cost is nonrefundable after the waiver period ends. Go to www.studentcenter.uhcsr.com/barry to complete the waiver and upload your insurance card.
