Faculty Bio
Michael Anderson, SPHR, GPHR is an Assistant Director with Miami-Dade County, Team Metro. Mr. Anderson has over 17 years of public sector service experience and he is committed to the provision of value-added services to our constituents. Current responsibilities include overseeing departmental functions related to Human Resources, Performance Measurement, Customer Service, Fiscal Management, Management Information Systems and other administrative functions. Mr. Anderson holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Psychology from the University of Florida and a Masters Degree of Management in Human Resources from Florida International University. Mr. Anderson currently serves on the Board of the Miami-Dade League of Women Voters and the ASPIRA Local Advisory Council.
Dr. Jalane Meloun, GPHR, SPHR, is the Academic Coordinator of Human Resource Management and Assistant Professor of Human Resources Management at Barry University. She earned a Best Paper Award from the International Personnel Management Association for Human Resources (IPMAAC-HR). Dr. Meloun is the CEO of Meloun Consulting. She has a Ph.D. and Master's Degree in Industrial/Organizational Psychology from the University of Akron. Dr. Meloun has earned teaching awards at Barry University and Kent State University.
Cindy Oliver, SPHR : as Director of Human Resources for Terremark Worldwide, Cindy Oliver is responsible for enhancing the Company’s recruitment efforts and developing training programs for employees. In addition, Ms. Oliver ensures Terremark is compliant with state and federal employment laws and develops comprehensive reports regarding employment trends at Terremark that help identify challenges and opportunities for the Company. Her work has resulted in a reduction of 10% in worker’s compensation costs. Ms. Oliver has also implemented drug-free workplace and safety programs while at Terremark.
Prior to joining Terremark, Ms. Oliver served as Director of Human Resources for Avborne Heavy Maintenance. At Avborne, she directed all aspects of the human resources department for the aviation company with 800 employees and $55 million in annual sales. Ms. Oliver’s more than 25 years of experience include positions with Baptist Health Systems of South Florida, where she developed affirmative action plans for the organization and managed employee relations, Unisa America, and The Palace.
Ms. Oliver received her Masters degree in Adult Education/Human Resource Management from Florida International University and her Bachelors degree in Human Resource Management from the University of South Florida
Patricia Shoemaker, SPHR, received her Bachelor’s Degree from Barry University and Master’s Degree in Human Resources Management from Webster University. Having several years experience in the Human Resources profession, she has also instructed at the college level and facilitated PHR/SPHR preparation classes.
