Jennifer Sily Marques, BA in Philosophy, Class ‘06 Jennifer Sily
When Jennifer Sily Marques began her undergraduate studies at Barry University, she knew that she wanted to become a lawyer and serve as a legal advocate for the poor and marginalized. She soon discovered that a philosophy major would help her achieve her goals--it was the best way for her to excel in critical thinking and analysis.

While at Barry University, Jennifer demonstrated excellence in leadership serving as the President of the inaugural Barry chapter of Phi Sigma Tau National Philosophy Honor Society and as President of the Undergraduate Philosophy Association. Graduating summa cum laude from Barry in 2006, Jennifer was accepted into several prestigious law schools and chose to attend the University of Wisconsin - School of Law.

Jennifer is currently in her third year there, and she has served a legal volunteer for the National Immigrant Justice Center and the Unemployment Appeals Clinic in Madison, Wisconsin.  Jennifer Sily Marques was recently named the Recipient of the 2008 George Overton Memorial Internship through the Wildman Harrold and the Public Interest Law Institute of Chicago.  Jennifer is conducting her internship at Access Living, a non-residential Center for Independent Living for people with various disabilities.
