Scholarships for Chemistry Majors

Department of Physical Sciences

Chemistry and Physics Faculty Endowed Scholarship ($1000) will be awarded to Barry University undergraduate chemistry majors who demonstrate dedication to involvement in department activities. Scholarships will be awarded by faculty/staff in the department after approval by the majority of votes. Completed application and unofficial transcript must be submitted to Ms. Beth Culverson at bculverson@barry.edu by the 1st Monday in November (fall) or 1st Monday in March (spring) by 4 pm. Recipients will be awarded during the end of semester party (fall and spring). Students may be awarded this scholarship once per year with the limit of two total awards.

Physical Sciences Honor Scholarship ($2000) will be awarded to academically outstanding undergraduate chemistry majors who have self-motivated approach and demonstrate committed participation in department activities as well as research. Scholarships will be awarded by faculty/staff in the department after approval by the majority of votes.

Applications are not being solicited. All eligible students will be considered. Recipients will be awarded during the end of semester party (fall and spring).

American Chemical Society Scholars Program

The American Chemical Society Scholars Program awards scholarships valued at up to $5000.00 per academic year to underrepresented students with excellent academic records and financial need who are pursuing studies in the chemical sciences. The ACS Scholars Program accepts applications in February for the following academic year. Application forms and instructions can be downloaded from the web site www.chemistry.org/scholars, by e-mail to scholars@acs.org, by calling 1-800-227-5558, ext. 6250, or by writing to American Chemical Society Scholars Program, 1155 16th Street, N.W., Washington, D.C. 20036. The deadline for application is March 1. Approximately 100 new scholarships will be awarded.
