Scholarships for Chemistry Majors

Department of Physical Sciences

Chemistry and Physics Faculty Endowed Scholarship ($750) will be awarded to Barry University undergraduate chemistry majors who demonstrate dedication to involvement in department activities. Scholarships will be awarded by faculty/staff in the department after approval by the majority of votes.

Eligibility

  1. Must be enrolled as a full-time BS in chemistry major or BS in chemistry with specialization in biochemistry.
  2. Must have completed a minimum of 45 credits (junior or senior status during award semester).
  3. Must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.2.
  4. Must have demonstrated strong involvement in department activities, for example Chemistry and Physics Tournament, chemistry club, AMP club (astro-mathematics-physics), COACH program, attendance at seminars etc…

Students may be awarded this scholarship once per year with the limit of two total awards

Physical Sciences Honor Scholarship ($2000) will be awarded to academically outstanding undergraduate chemistry majors who have self-motivated approach and demonstrate committed participation in department activities as well as research. Scholarships will be awarded by faculty/staff in the department after approval by the majority of votes.

Eligibility

  1. Must be enrolled as a full-time BS in chemistry major or BS in chemistry with specialization in biochemistry.
  2. Must have completed a minimum of 45 credits (junior or senior status during award semester).
  3. Must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5
  4. Must have demonstrated initiative, involvement in department activities as well as involvement in science or math research.

American Chemical Society Scholars Program

The American Chemical Society Scholars Program awards scholarships valued at up to $5000.00 per academic year to underrepresented students with excellent academic records and financial need who are pursuing studies in the chemical sciences. The ACS Scholars Program accepts applications in February for the following academic year. The deadline for application is March 1. Approximately 100 new scholarships will be awarded.
