To assists in examination and treatment of patients under direction of Physician. Responsible for assisting with patient care, select surgery procedures and obtaining history and chief complaint. General Duties, include but are not limited to:

This includes: Preparation of Exam Rooms with patient gowns and medical supplies according to the procedure being performed. Providing a sterile or clean work environment including appropriate clean-up of Exam Room (exam table, trays, stands, lasers, lab)o Preparation/set-up/clean-up (disinfecting) body. A Physician Assistant (PA) is responsible to prepare various procedures for either herself/himself or the MD with whom he/she is working with AND perform various procedures (after appropriate training).
  • A Physician Assistant (PA) is responsible to take a thorough history and physical and pre-op visit where appropriate and document H & P, initial visits, progress notes, OP notes (accordingly), prescriptions (accordingly), cosmetic consultations AND any other medical documentation that is warranted.
  • A Physician Assistant is responsible to perform and apply settings to the Lasers, as well any additional laser that may be supplemented to the office (after appropriate training).
  • A Physician Assistant is responsible to assist in surgical cosmetic procedures including: Liposuction, Tummy Tucks, Breast Augmentation, Injectables, Botox, Laser, etc.
  • A Physician Assistant is responsible for appropriate inventory of medical and surgical supplies, including recording, ordering and stocking, as appropriate.
  • A Physician Assistant is responsible to perform appropriate lab duties including cleaning of instruments, sterilization.

Job Description/Responsibilities: The Clinical Coordinator holds a principal faculty position with additional leadership/management duties assigned. The Clinical Coordinator reports to the Department Chair/Program Director. Under the guidance and approval of the program director, the Clinical Coordinator seeks out, establishes and maintains supervised clinical practice experience (SCPE) sites and preceptors. The Clinical Coordinator must represent the program and the PA profession in a positive manner university wide and within the community.

Coordinates and schedules all clinical rotation assignments with sequencing that enables students to develop the competencies necessary for current and evolving clinical practice.

Coordinating, scheduling and participating in all end-of-rotation/ call back days to include written and clinical skills assessments and educational activities to coincide with continuous facilitation of student learning to meet program expectations.

Administering and reviewing all clinical assessment of students by preceptors, student assessments of rotation sites and preceptors, and student assessment of end-of-rotation activities.

Engaging in course instruction and curriculum mapping as assigned by the program director. Participate in student evaluation, student advising and student admissions. Serve on committees of the department, School of Pharmacy and Health Professions, and the university.

Performs other duties as assigned by the Program Director.

Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree required. Master’s degree preferred. PA with current NCCPA certification or Nurse Practitioner with license and certification. A minimum of two years experience in a clinical leadership role, or experience placing clinical students, or marketing and promoting the physician assistant profession. The desired candidate will have strong outreach and organizational skills.

Demonstrated abilities in teaching, assessment, and curriculum development preferred. Must be able to serve as a role model for students and engage in respectful interactions with them in classroom, clinical, and community settings.
