Samuel Cleveland joined the PA Program at Barry University in January of 2008. Dr. Cleveland is Medical Director/Associate Professor and holds a BS in Biology from the University of Miami, and an MS in Radiation Physics from the University of Miami, and received his D.O. at Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences. Dr. Cleveland has maintained his Board certification by the American Board of Emergency Medicine and has been elected a lifetime Fellowship status by the American College of Emergency Physicians. Dr. Cleveland was a full time attending Emergency Medicine Physician at Morton Plant Hospital prior to coming to Barry University. Prior to coming to Florida, Dr. Cleveland served as Chairman of the Department of Emergency Medicine at St. Thomas Medical Center in Akron, Ohio and was instrumental in establishing the residency with Akron City Hospital in Emergency Medicine. Dr. Cleveland completed his residency at Akron General Medical Center. Both in Ohio and in Florida, he has participated in several leadership roles including Regional Medical Director in Emergency Medical Services (Pinellas County, Florida). Dr. Cleveland’s interests have been and continue to be teaching the various aspects of academic and clinical medicine at the residency level where he was awarded “Teacher of the Year”, as well as having been Director of the School of Paramedic Education in Ohio, and is confident his interests will continue in teaching the physician assistants here at Barry University.
