Terry Helopoulos, MMS, PA-C, joined the Physician Assistant Program in 2002 and is currently serving as Operations Director of the Barry University PA Program through the University Partnership Center, St. Petersburg College. She earned her Masters degree in Medical Education from Nova Southeastern University in Fort Lauderdale and her Associates degree in Physician Assistant Studies from Miami Dade College. She began her academic career with Barry University as an adjunct professor, advanced to a part-time core faculty member, then joined the program as a full-time assistant professor in 2006. She has practiced clinically as a P.A. in various settings including Dermatology, Psychiatry, and Addiction medicine. She is a member of several P.A. organizations including Florida Academy of Physician Assistants (FAPA), American Academy of Physician Assistants (AAPA), the Physician Assistant Education Association (PAEA), and the Society of PA’s in Addiction Medicine (SPAAM), where she holds the office of Treasurer. She also continues to maintain her credentialing as a Licensed practical nurse where she practiced in Family medicine, Urgent care and Addiction medicine prior to beginning her career as a Physician Assistant. She currently lectures in various subjects in the P.A. program and is the Physical Diagnosis Lab director for the St. Petersburg campus. She serves as the Faculty Advisor to the Barry University Physician Assistant Student Association (BUPASA) and is the Faculty liaison to the FAPA Board of Directors. Her passions outside of the university life are travelling (both domestic and foreign) and photography. Together with her husband, Chris, she has visited and photographed many countries including China, Thailand, Italy, Greece and Egypt.
