Clinical Coordinator St. Croix
Evelyn has been working for the PA Program since March 2001. Until June 2008 she was responsible for processing clinical affiliation agreements for the preceptors and hospitals, assisting the Clinical Coordinator placing students in different rotations, maintaining the students’ clinical files, coordinating the End of Rotation (EOR), and tutoring the Medical Spanish class during one semester. On July 2008 she was assigned to Dr. Richard Fien, Director of Didactic Study as his Assistant. In this capacity she assisted Dr. Fien with Didactic and Advanced Didactic responsibilities. Evelyn is a native Puerto Rican. She has a degree in Business Administration from the Catholic University of Puerto Rico. On January 19, 2011, Evelyn was relocated to USVI, the island of St. Croix, to assist start up an expansion of the Physician Assistant Program Campus in St. Croix. Evelyn expressed having learned to understand the island culture very fast. Effective July 1, 2012, Evelyn was promoted to the Clinical Coordinator for the USVI territory, which includes the islands of St. Croix, St. Thomas and St. John. As a Clinical Coordinator Evelyn will assist the Associate Clinical Director coordinate scheduling students to Clinical Rotations to physicians and healthcare institutions among the three islands.
On April 2012, Evelyn received the “2012 Barry University Sister Jeanne O’Laughlin Administrative Professional Award”. Faculty and staff from both programs, Physician Assistant Program and School of Podiatric Medicine nominated Evelyn with the following description: “Evelyn provides cheerful support in a constantly changing environment. An excellent communicator, Evelyn is positive and warm, dependable and flexible – fearlessly and enthusiastically facing the many challenges and obstacles related to the development and running of a distant site campus. She is solution-focused, proactive, and inspiring.” Twelve employees from other departments were nominated as well, but only Evelyn received the award.
