Evelyn Garcia is the Clinical Coordinator for the Physician Assistant Program at the campus in Miami, FL. As a Clinical Coordinator, Evelyn assists the Director of Clinical Education coordinate scheduling students on clinical rotations to physicians and healthcare institutions among the State of Florida and the USA. Before Barry University, Evelyn worked for the City of Miami Fire Department, Education Division. She was a member of the NFPA education committee and assisted in the creating of the elementary fire education program in Spanish.
Evelyn has worked for the PA Program since March 2001. She has seen many students graduate. Some of them are now part of our faculty team. In January 2011, the PA Program sent Evelyn to St. Croix, USVI to assist with the start of a campus in St. Croix. Part of her job was to recruit preceptors to train students during clinical rotations. While physicians on the island were requesting medical students vs. physician assistant students, we very successfully, proved to them how well trained our PA students are to assist physicians. To this date, physicians on the island continue asking for PA Students. We continue to assign students to clinical rotations in St. Croix for the following specialties: Family Medicine, Behavioral Health, Pediatrics, Ob/Gyn, and the Emergency Medicine.
On April 2012, Evelyn received the "2012 Barry University Sister Jeanne O'Laughlin Administrative Professional ". For many years Evelyn was a member of the Administrative Staff Council, a University Committee that advocate and represent the university staff at large. She was born and raised in Puerto Rico and attended the Pontificia Catholic University of Ponce, Puerto Rico where she received a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration.
