Dr. Graham Shaw appointed new Chair of Basic Medical Sciences

Graham Shaw, PhD, was named the new Chair of Basic Medical Sciences for the School of Podiatric Medicine. He began his new role in the summer of 2014. A professor of Biochemistry, Dr. Shaw has been teaching at Barry University since 2002.

Dr. Shaw graduated from Bristol Polytechnic, U.K., obtaining a first-class honours degree in Applied Biological Sciences.  He went on to earn his Ph.D. from Aston University, Birmingham U.K., and joined the faculty in the School of Life Sciences at the University of North London in 1989. In 1999, he was appointed associate professor of Biochemistry at the then California College of Podiatric Medicine in San Francisco, California.

Dr. Shaw is a member of the Society for General Microbiology, the British Society of Gastroenterology and the National Professional Science Masters Association.  

The impact of technology on medical education is Dr. Shaw’s primary research interest. He serves on the review panel for Medical Education Online and the American Journal of Podiatric Medicine. He has published numerous articles in peer-reviewed journals and presented his research at international conferences in the United States and abroad.
