School of Podiatric Medicine students elected to leadership positions

Barry University School of Podiatric Medicine was well represented at the American Podiatric Medical Students’ Association (APMSA) Mid-Winter House of Delegates meeting. Barry’s student representatives recently travelled to Nashville, Tenn., to represent the Barry University School of Podiatric Medicine classes of 2019 and 2020.

The House of Delegates is composed of a student body president, president-elect and a delegate for each class year, as well as one alternate delegate. It provides a forum to address and resolve student issues and problems; to represent students to the podiatric medical community; and to further the profession in the delivery of high quality health care.

To accomplish these goals, the APMSA House of Delegates, with a strong collective voice, maintains relationships with a number of associations and organizations affiliated with podiatric medicine, including its parent organization, the American Podiatric Medical Association (APMA). The following Barry University School of Podiatric Medicine student leaders were elected to leadership positions in the House of Delegates:

Thomas Corona Jr. (class of 2020 delegate) was nominated and elected by his peers to the position of liaison to corporate relations. He is charged with the task of recruiting new APMSA Partner’s and promoting APMSA funding opportunities.

Marissa Venero (Class of 2019 alternate delegate) was nominated and elected by her peers to the position of liaison to the Council of Teaching Hospitals (COTH). She will be responsible for representing students’ interests on all issues concerning the COTH.

Tyler Prager (Class of 2019 president-elect) was nominated and elected by his peers to be the chair of the president’s committee. His primary responsibility will be to serve as the official representative and singular voice of all nine colleges of podiatric medicine and he will be the main point of contact for the executive director of the APMSA.
