Sr. John Karen Frei, O.P., Ph.D.

Sr. John Karen Frei, O.P., Ph.D. (University of Miami, FL), dean, is an epiphytic ecologist who has studied orchids in the Florida Everglades, Nigeria, Ecuador, Mexico, and Jamaica. Sister John Karen’s interest has been in studying orchid seed, protocorm, and seedling growth response on varying orchid substrates including tree bark. Much of her work has involved growing seedling plants in sterile culture. Sister is the Program Director of the MARC, MBRS, and MIRT grants and is very interested in minority education.
