Linda Peterson has served Barry University for nearly 30 years through a variety of academic and leadership roles. She joined the faculty in 1981 as an assistant professor of psychology and served two times as the chair of the Faculty Senate. She has served as Chair of the Psychology Department, Associate Dean for the School of Arts & Sciences, Dean of the School of Arts & Sciences, and became Provost of the University in 2006. Dr. Peterson has a Ph.D. in personality psychology and a master of science in social psychology from the University of Miami. Her bachelor’s degree is from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champagne, in chemistry. In addition to her academic profile she was a Fulbright-Hays Scholar in India and is a member of Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society. She also volunteers with Children’s Diagnostic & Treatment Center in Ft. Lauderdale.
As chief academic officer, and secretary of the corporation, the Provost is responsible for the Division of Academic Affairs which is comprised of the academic units and academic support areas. The Provost is responsible for ensuring the quality of all academic programs including the liberal arts core and for ensuring that the mission is manifest in and through the curriculum. The Provost also oversees the activities of the Office of the Registrar, the Division of Enrollment Services, the Office of Institutional Research and the Division of Information Technology which includes the Library.

Bruce Edwards joined Barry’s executive committee in July of 2008, bringing over 15 years of broad based financial and accounting experience. He served as the Executive Associate Vice President for Finance at Texas A&M University and held various financial leadership roles at Delta Air Lines and American Airlines before joining Barry. He is a Certified Public Accountant and holds a master of business administration degree from the University of Texas and a bachelor of business administration degree from Texas A&M University. He serves as a director on a number of Boards including the Independent Colleges and Universities Benefits Association (ICUBA) and the Florida Independent Colleges and Universities Risk Management Association (FICURMA), in addition to his roles as chief financial officer and treasurer of the corporation at Barry University.
Under Bruce’s leadership, the Division of Business and Finance is responsible for the strategic management of Barry’s financial and physical resources. Business and Finance consists of the following functions: accounting, accounts payable, administrative information systems, budgeting, business services, cashier operations, conference and events, facilities management (maintenance, housekeeping, and grounds), financial analysis, financial grants management, human resources, payroll, purchasing, and treasury operations (cash and investment management).
