Industrial/Organizational Psychology Specialization

The Specialization in Industrial/Organizational Psychology (18 cr.) is available for psychology majors. The specialization takes an interdisciplinary approach to the scientific study of the workplace. In particular, it examines  the study of human behavior as it relates to employee productivity and well-being. The course sequence encompasses both psychology and management courses. This sequence provides students with a unique opportunity to learn about the relationship between psychology and organizational behavior and issues of critical relevance to business. The I/O Psychology Specialization will enhance the eligibility of psychology majors for graduate study in I/O Psychology and help  prepare them for work related to, Human Resources Management (HRM), Organizational Behavior, and Organizational Learning and Leadership. At the bachelor’s level, the specialization will enhance eligibility for entry-level positions in the HRM field.

The specialization requires the completion of the following courses:

  • PSY 370 Social Psychology
  • PSY 423 Industrial/Organizational Psychology
  • MGT 305 Organizational Behavior and Management
  • MGT 352 Human Resources Management
  • MGT 355 Conflict and Negotiation
  • MGT 420 Leadership
