The mission of the Department of Psychology is derived from the mission of the Barry University. The mission of the undergraduate major in psychology is to teach students the scientific method as it applies to the wide range of sub-disciplines in psychology. The skills derived from this study will help to prepare students to embark upon a career or enter into a post-baccalaureate course of study. They will also learn to use knowledge and skills from the field of psychology to contemplate, assess and act upon the competing messages, values, and demands that occur in their everyday lives. They will do so with respect for the complexity of sociocultural and international diversity.
