On Tuesday, Nov. 3, Barry’s Graduate Association of Students in Psychology (G.A.S.P.) hosted a depression seminar featuring faculty from the Department of Psychology and G.A.S.P. students. Students, faculty and staff were invited to Library Room 103 from 5 to 6 p.m. for presentations on the face of depression, symptoms of depression, the ABCs of depression and treatment options for depression.

G.A.S.P. students kicked off the session with a skit showing the face of depression and what friends and family can do to help those who may be struggling with it. The main goal of the session was to bring depression awareness to the Barry campus, as students may be more vulnerable to stress during exams periods and while away from home.

The depression seminar gave attendees options to help prevent any problems that may occur. Students can step up and watch out for their friends on campus, ask questions or use Barry’s Center for Counseling and Psychological Services, which can be of assistance in a variety of areas including depression.
