Brown Bag Colloquia
By Amber Siler-Knogl
In November 2003, Professor Joel Rodriguez launched the first Brown Bag Discussion in the Psychology Department. These talks serve as an informal forum for intellectual discussion on topics related to the interests of the Department or field of psychology in general. Also, students and faculty can bring their own lunch, hence the title Brown Bag.
Benefits include: (1) good practice for preparing your theses or proposing a study, (2) feedback on ongoing department projects, & (3) relaxed setting where people share ideas, research, and knowledge.
The opportunity to practice as a professional mental health counselor extends to a variety of settings. Licensed mental health counselors may work independently via private practice or work in private and public mental health organizations and agencies. They may also become involved in government and private research teams or offer services at community colleges.
Students who wish to pursue a Master’s of Science degree in Clinical Psychology at Barry University are equipped with the knowledge of clinical theory, the experience of research, and hands-on training in the application of clinical
principles.
