Clinical Psychology
By Samira Flores
The Clinical Psychology program at Barry University is organized according to a scientist-practitioner model of training. Students learn the clinical skills needed to diagnose, evaluate, and treat psychological disorders. In addition to academic training, students acquire valuable research experience and receive the opportunity to experience supervised clinical training at a variety of mental health centers.
There are two program options to students who are interested in pursuing a career in mental health. Students may choose the 36 semester-hour option which offers two years
of academic coursework. This option is designed to prepare students who want to proceed to a clinical doctoral program. The alternative program option consists of 60 semester-hours which involves two years of academic coursework and one year of internship. This program option is designed for students who want to obtain Florida State licensure as a mental health counselor.
