Message from the Chair

By Dr. Lenore Szuchman
We greet this issue of the Psychology Department Newsletter with great excitement. As you will read, we have had a busy year so far, and we are planning special things in the months to come.
The Psychology Department is very happy to welcome our two new faculty members, Craig Rush and Joel Rodriguez. Professor Rush, a School Psychologist, is researching teachers’ perceptions of adolescents with ADHD and aspects of cultural diversity. Professor Rodriguez (Barry alumnus) is a Social Psychologist whose research interests include stereotypes, prejudice, and discrimination.
We also are proud to add alumni to the ranks of our adjunct faculty: Vanessa Elias and Fadia Narchet. This is in addition to veterans, Scott Bauer, Margaret Dell’Osso, and Michelle Major.
Our students continue to be the focus of our endeavors and our greatest asset. They excite the faculty with the enthusiasm they bring to the classroom. They create community in our department and give of themselves to the community at large. Upon graduation, they carry the Barry legacy to their varied and important paths.
From our current students we ask that you keep in touch when you graduate and send us your news. From our alumni we ask for your news and, in addition, that you pass this newsletter on to those we might have missed.
