Barry Welcomes New Faculty

Dr. Laura Ferrer-Wreder is a developmental psychologist, who joined the faculty at Barry in 2005. Prior to coming to Barry, she was an assistant professor at Penn State Capital College. Dr. Ferrer-Wreder earned her Bachelor's degree at Barry (1993) and Master's degree and Ph.D. in Life Span Developmental Psychology at Florida International University (1998). Her undergraduate and graduate studies were supported by National Institutes of Health MARC training grants. As a post-doc, she received a National Science Foundation International Research Fellowship to do research at Örebro University, Sweden. Her specialty areas are positive youth development and prevention science.

Dr. Guillermo Wated is an industrial/organizational psychologist who joined the faculty at Barry in 2005. He earned both his Bachelor’s of Business Administration and Masters of Business Administration from the University of Miami, and his M.S. and Ph.D. from Florida International University (2002). His consulting experience includes private and public organizations in the areas of job analysis, test development, work-related attitude surveys, and data collection and analysis. His major research area is in employee attitudes. His research interests also include occupational stress and organizations and culture.

Dr. Maria Lopez is a clinical psychologist who joined the faculty at Barry in 2005. Dr. Lopez earned her Bachelor’s degree at Pine Manor College and Master’s degree and Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology at Nova Southeastern University (2003). Her areas of special interest include assessment, child maltreatment, and cross-cultural psychology.

Dr. Michelle Major-Sanabria is a licensed school psychologist. Prior to being employed by her alma mater, she worked as a School Psychologist for the Palm Beach County School District for five years. She has taught as an adjunct professor in both the psychology and education at Barry University. Dr. Major-Sanabria has also worked as a pre-k teacher for children with autism in an inclusive setting and as a behavior therapist for children with autism. Dr. Major-Sanabria earned her B.S. and M.S. in psychology, S.S.P. in school psychology and Ph.D. in education and leadership with a specialization in exceptional student education from Barry University.
