Professional Development
Psychology and Professional Development is an exciting new
course developed by Dr. Lenore Szuchman, Department Chair.
It began in the Fall of 2005. As stated in the syllabus, “The
purpose of the course is to enable students to understand their
interests, their skills, their major and their career goals
and to design an academic plan that will facilitate their ability
to meet these goals successfully. Students will also be introduced
to psychological research, APA style, critical thinking in
psychology, psychological testing, interviewing techniques,
and scientific presentation formats.”
New Course in Psychology
"As a student in PSY 241, I gained experience in public
speaking, learned standard APA writing techniques, as well
as ways to increase chances of employment. I feel that written
assignments regarding the field of psychology not only enhanced
my writing skills, but also helped to define my path as a psychology
major.”
Amelia Barron
“The class was quite rewarding. It expanded my knowledge
on the different types of careers in the world of psychology.
The books that we used in the class were very helpful also.
. “This class was great! Before this class I did not
know what direction to go. Now I am more focused, I know what
I want and I am more aware of what needs to be done. The only
thing I regret is that Barry did not offer this class sooner.”
