Recent Events in Psi Chi

In the beginning of the fall semester, Psi Chi hosted a welcome social gathering at Barry University. Current members as well as students interested in joining Psi Chi were invited. Approximately fifteen students attended this event.

Furthermore, in November Psi Chi engaged in helping build homes for the poor with Habitat for Humanity. Habitat for Humanity in a nonprofit organization designed to create shelter for those in need.

In addition, Psi Chi assisted the Barry University chapel with the Thanksgiving food drive. A four-member household was sponsored by Psi Chi. Food was donated by the faculty, staff, and students of the Psychology Department.

Also, during that same month Psi Chi held its biggest fundraiser of the semester. This event consisted of Psi Chi members selling raffle tickets throughout the campus.

The first place and second place winners were given 50% and 25% of the money raised.

The fall semester ended with a fall induction of eight students as new Psi Chi members. As the spring semester unfolded, Psi Chi hosted a brown bag presentation featuring Dr. Deborah Jones. Dr. Jone’s presentation gave insight into some of her research conducted in Africa.

Psi Chi and Psychology Club also had the second annual affirmation muffin sale. Psi Chi plans to donate some of its profit to a non-profit organization.

Psi Chi’s spring induction welcomed six student members into the organization. Dr. Guillermo Wated was inducted as an honorary faculty member. Psi Chi is winding down another very productive semester and looking forward to the next academic year.
