Dr. Lois K. Haid joined the Adrian Dominican School of Education as an Assistant Professor in the Reading Department in the Fall of 2004. She has 20 years of experience in the university setting, most recently at Kennesaw State University, Georgia in their Elementary and Early Childhood program. Dr. Haid has over 25 years of experience in Pre-K through college education. Besides teaching reading courses, she was director of Appalachian Region America Reads Grants and developed conferences and coordinated professional development activities in that region for Title 1 schools in reading, mathematics and science. Dr Haid is also active in the field of research and evaluation, having served as an evaluator for several state departments of education, including working on development of state tests for certification.
Dr. Haid holds a PhD in Literacy and Evaluation and Assessment from George Mason University, Virginia, a Master of Arts Education/Learning Disabilities from Marymount University, Virginia and a Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics with certification to teach mathematics from College of Saint Elizabeth, New Jersey.Dr. Haid is active in numerous local, state, and national organizations and has presented at numerous conferences and conventions. She has acted as expert consultant to the Federal Department of Education and several state departments of education. Her research interests center around the impact of university courses on the pedagogical content knowledge of teachers and the role of reading in success of students in disciplinary literacy. Her recent research has focused on the impact of RTI on professionals in the field. She enjoys working with struggling readers and providing professional development support to teachers.
