Dr. Cynthia Fischer joined the Adrian Dominican School of Education as an Assistant Professor in the Graduate Reading Program in August, 2006. Previously she taught graduate reading courses at the University of Virginia , from which she earned her Ph.D. in Reading Education. She worked with struggling readers and writers at the secondary level for over twenty-five years, and also served as a literacy specialist.
Dr. Fischer has published articles in peer-reviewed journals such as The Reading Teacher and the Journal of Adolescent and Adult Literacy . One of those articles was selected for inclusion in two books published by the International Reading Association. She is active in local writing and international reading organizations. Dr. Fischer is interested in helping struggling readers and writers, exploring the reading/writing connection, content area literacy, and comprehension enhancement. |
