Dr. Andrea Rosenblatt, Associate Professor, joined the Early Childhood and Reading Faculty of the Adrian Dominican School of Education in 1997. Prior to that time Dr. Rosenblatt worked in the Miami-Dade County Public Schools for 32 years holding many positions including an elementary teacher (grades K-6), reading resource teacher, specific learning disabilities teacher, elementary assistant principal, and elementary principal. Since joining Barry University, she has also been a consultant in a number of high schools in the Miami-Dade County School District.

Dr. Rosenblatt is active in local, state, and international reading organizations. She has served as President of the Dade Reading Council and the Florida Reading Association and remains on the board of both organizations. Dr. Rosenblatt has served on many International Reading Association committees, for the last twenty-five years, and in May 2008 received IRA Mary Ann Manning Outstanding Volunteer Service Award. She is currently a manuscript reviewer for The Reading Teacher and the publications division of the International Reading Association. She also reviews manuscripts for Corwin Press. Her special areas of interest include brain research and its implication for the classroom teacher, children’s literature, reading coaches, the urban learner, the struggling reader, and assessment.
