Dr. Heidi Maier is located at the Ocala Campus of Barry University, at the Central Florida Community College University Center. She joined the Adrian Dominican School of Education in August, 2006.

Prior to Barry University, Dr. Maier worked for the Florida Department of Education and was a public school prekindergarten and kindergarten teacher.  Among her interests are dialogic reading, which was her dissertation topic; Head Start; emergent reading particularly phonological awareness and oral language development; and Florida's Voluntary Prekindergarten (VPK) Education program.

Dr. Maier is a consultant for the Florida Department of Education in the area of early childhood and emergent literacy. She also consults with numerous Early Learning Coalitions throughout Florida, and has presented numerous times at state and local conferences in the area of emergent literacy, developmentally appropriate practices and teacher/child motivation.
