Reading Endorsement Program Overview

The Reading Endorsement option is available for students that do not wish to obtain a master's degree, but still wish to meet state requirements and become a highly-qualified teacher of Reading. This program requires that you hold, or are eligible for, Florida State Teaching Certification.

The Florida Department of Education requirements for the Reading Endorsement's six competencies are met by five Barry graduate reading courses:

  • EDU 567 Foundations of Reading
  • EDU 568 Reading in the Content Areas
  • EDU 584 Reading Diagnosis
  • EDU 590 Corrective Reading
  • EDU 717 Practicum in Reading

Should you choose to continue your education with a master's degree, these five courses will apply to Barry's Master of Science in Reading program with advisor's approval.
