Dr. Cynthia J. Lasky joined the Adrian Dominican School of Education as an Adjunct Professor in the fall of 1999 and as an Assistant Professor in the fall of 2000 in the Undergraduate Elementary Education Program. Dr. Lasky is presently a member of the Department of Curriculum and Instruction. She has 30 years of experience in the Miami Dade County Public Schools. In addition to teaching grades K-6, Dr. Lasky also served as a Title I after-school tutoring coordinator, a supervisor of university interns, and a mentor to first year teachers.
Dr. Lasky holds a Doctor of Education in Early and Middle Childhood Education
from Nova University, a Masters of Science in Reading from Barry University, and a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from Southern Connecticut State University. She also holds a State of Florida Professional Educator’s Certificate in the following areas: Administration/Supervision (Grades K-12); Elementary Education (Grades K-6); Reading (Grades K-12); Specific Learning Disabilities (Grades K-12); and an ESOL Endorsement.
Dr. Lasky is active in local, state, and international organizations and has presented at numerous conferences and conventions. Her research interests center around nutritional literacy/childhood obesity, teacher retention, and multicultural children’s literature. Dr. Lasky has been involved with school gardens for over 21 years. She enjoys providing professional development to teachers at local schools and supporting the Native American Elder Program. |
