Housing Eligibility

University housing is available to full-time undergraduate Barry University students.

Housing Accommodations

Residence hall rooms, apartments, houses, and the Best Western are fully furnished and air-conditioned. Many services are provided for the convenience of residents. All residence hall rooms are wired with ResNet connection (Internet access and network connectivity) per student. In addition, there is a computer lab in Dalton-Dunspaugh. All rooms are wired for cable TV. Laundry facilities are available in each residence hall and the Best Western. University houses have a washer and dryer. Students living in the Best Western receive weekly linen and housekeeping services at no extra charge. All rooms have telephone connections, with free local telephone service.

How do I apply to live on campus?

New students will receive a housing package once they have verified their admission into the University. Returning students participate in a spring term housing lottery during which they choose their rooms for the next academic year.

Housing Assignment

New students are assigned housing by the Office of Residential Life on a first-come, first-served basis. Admissions to the University does not guarantee a housing assignment. The procedure for securing a University housing assignment for new students is as follows:

  1. Application and acceptance to the University
  2. Payment of enrollment deposit.
  3. Application for on-campus housing completed and submitted to the Office of Residential Life.
  4. Payment of housing deposit.

Assignments are processed as completed applications are received. An application is considered completed only when the above four steps are accomplished.

If you receive any special financial help from another department on campus (for example housing waivers or scholarships) you must still complete the above mentioned procedure in order to secure a room. Contact Residential Life directly to receive information regarding your housing application status. We are the only department who can verify your housing status.

When do I pay?

Payment is due during the class registration process. A deferred payment plan is offered; please contact Student Account Services at (305) 899-3585 for more information.
