Shamyra Vanterpool

Student Fund Manager Sectors: Consumer Discretionary & Staples

My name is Shamyra Vanterpool. I am from St. Croix, U.S. Virgin Islands. I recently became a member of the Barry University Student Managed Investment Fund in Fall 2013. In Spring 2014, I will be graduating from Barry University with my BSBA in Finance.

During the summer of 2013, I worked as a Finance and Accounting intern at St. Croix Landmarks Society in the U.S. Virgin Islands. That experience made me realize that throughout the last bit of my university career, I should garner as much practical experience as possible. So I decided to join the Barry University Student Managed Investment Fund group. Although I have recently joined SMIF, it has already enhanced my financial knowledge and experience here at Barry University. I have been able to gain the practical knowledge needed to understand how a career in the Finance field works. As the new fund manager for the Consumer Discretionary and Consumer Staples sector, I look forward to gaining more experience and learning from my colleagues as we go along.

After experiencing a few days on the job with my mom, who was an accountant for 19 years, I began to enjoy the world of banking. Upon graduating from Barry University, I would like to begin to establish a career in Investment Banking. // Download resume
