Histotechnology Certificate Program at Barry University

The Post-Baccalaureate Certificate in Histotechnology program is designed for students who have already earned a bachelor’s degree in biology or related field. This 4 + 1 program prepares you for histotechnology certification with one year of additional study. Students receive intense training through a combination of lectures, hands-on laboratory experience and clinical internships.

The Histotechnology program at Barry University is one of only three programs of its kind in the United States accredited by the National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Sciences (NAACLS). The program is also approved by the Florida Department of Health as an official Training Program for Histotechnologists.

Preparing You for ASCP Certification

Students completing the certificate program are eligible to sit for the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) certification examination.

Convenient Program for Working Professionals

The program is designed with the working professional in mind. Classes are held in the evenings and during the day on Saturdays so that you can continue to work while enrolled in the program. You can earn your certificate within one year.

Internships

The program includes a six-month internship at clinical affiliate sites in Dade, Broward and Palm Beach counties. The internship provides practical hands-on experience that prepares you for a career as a Histotechnologist.

Accreditation

Barry's Post-Baccalaureate Certificate in Histotechnology program is accredited by NAACLS as a 4 + 1 program. We are one of only three NAACLS-accredited Histotechnology programs in the United States.
