MSW Advanced Standing Programs (32credits)
MSW Field Education Advanced standing year prepares MSW students with clinical concentration skills. The Barry University School of Social Work Field Education curriculum is designed to ensure the integration between the classroom learning experience and direct social work practice. Field Education courses are a vital part of the MSW curriculum, providing MSW students the opportunity to build upon the generalist foundation skills as they advance to their clinical concentration field experience in a supervised setting. These clinical concentration skills include an increasing level of clinical engagement towards independent practice with agency clients in a variety of agency-sanctioned/supported models of intervention, developing skills and advancing knowledge in the areas of treatment planning, clinical assessment and diagnosis, evaluation of practice, and participation in clinical consultation. The Field experience must also provide opportunities for the advancement of leadership skills, which may include interagency meetings, community projects, agency initiatives, and assistance in program planning.
