School of Social Work adjunct professor gives TEDx Talk

Barry University adjunct professor of social work Janet Courtney spoke at a Tedx event in Delray Beach in June 2013. The event’s theme was “The Human Experience” and featured seven exhibitors. Courtney’s lecture, titled “The Curative Touch of a Magic Rainbow Hug,” centered on techniques used to assist therapists bring psychological healing to young children.

Courtney is an internationally recognized play therapist specializing in expressive therapies and attachment treatment. Her latest development is a new process of kinesthetic storytelling, merging imagery relaxation skills with joyful first-play touch activities. Her interactive storybook, The Magic Rainbow Hug makes this technique directly accessible to professionals, parents, and the children who can most benefit from its use.
