Mr. Fabio Naranjo

Instructor

FABIO A. NARANJO is an instructor at the School of Social Work at Barry University.  From January 2007 to May 2009, he served as an adjunct instructor with the School of Social Work at Florida Atlantic University (FAU). From 2005 to 2008, he also held two other positions at FAU; the most recent, as the Assistant Director of the Center for Urban Redevelopment and Education (CURE). In that capacity, he had decision-making authority over the day-to-day operations of the Center, including staff management, program design and implementation, project management, grant-writing and grants administration, financial management, and other related fundraising.

And, from 2005 to 2007, Naranjo worked for the FAU-based Center for Urban and Environmental Solutions (CUES) as a Senior Research Associate.  At CUES, his responsibilities included working in the Center’s Regional Indicators Project, supporting the efforts of the South Florida Regional Resource Center, establishing stronger linkages between CUES and community based organizations and advocacy groups, and identifying potential national and local funders for these and other initiatives.

Prior to coming to the Sunshine State, Naranjo lived in Chicago for 25 years where he worked for several nonprofits including Erie Neighborhood House (1987-88) and Metropolitan Family Services (1988-94). From 1994 to 2004 he worked for three Chicago-based foundations: The Chicago Community Trust, the Woods Fund of Chicago and the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation. Fabio was also an adjunct faculty member at Loyola University Chicago (1992-2004), Spertus College (1995-2004) and North Park University (2000-2004).

Fabio is a 1987 graduate of the University of Chicago’s School of Social Service Administration, with a concentration in social service policy and administration, and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from Northeastern Illinois University in 1985.
