The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is to be completed by entering students/first time applicants seeking any kind of funding, including federal student loans, grants, and scholarships. This form enables us to gather all information necessary for awarding institutional as well as federal aid. There is no fee charged for processing. The FAFSA comes with an instruction booklet that should make completion an easy task. Be sure to list Barry University as one of the six colleges/universities to receive information from your FAFSA application. The FAFSA form is in your application packet or available from the School or University. In order to complete the FAFSA form you must have information from your filed tax return. If you file a FAFSA application before you file a tax return, the returned Student Aid Report (SAR) may come back to you INCOMPLETE. When a SAR is mailed to you, it is your responsibility to make sure the information on the form is complete and correct before submitting it to the financial aid office. Handing in an incorrect or incomplete SAR will prevent us from processing your request for financial aid.

To apply for any form of financial aid administered by the School of Social Work (graduate assistantships, tuition scholarships, tuition discounts)submit a copy of this SAR report directly to the School of Social Work Financial Aid Office-Doctoral Program Division- along with:

  • a copy of your most recent filed tax return and
  • your School of Social Work Application for Financial Aid, and
  • any other relevant materials related to specific scholarships and assistantships you may be seeking.

Students who are already enrolled in the School and applied for and received financial aid for the current academic year should have received a renewal access code to file the FAFSA application on line at www.fafsa.ed.gov. If you did not receive the Renewal Application for Federal Student Aid, you must follow directions outlined above for the first time applicants.
