Tuition Scholarships
The School of Social Work administers limited tuition scholarships. Scholarship awards are made to students who demonstrate academic achievement and financial need.
The Beulah Rothman Scholarship supports students with interest in group work scholarship, practice scholarship and social work education. The amount of these awards is very limited and generally averages the amount of three tuition credits per academic year in tuition remission. In addition to routine financial aid application materials, The Beulah Rothman Scholarship requires a statement of purpose that outlines the student’s planned or current scholarship germane to social work practice, group work, or social work education.
The School of Social Work has a limited number of other tuition scholarships, which are awards based on financial need and academic strength. Qualified students may be granted Barry Tuition Scholarships worth one or more credits.
Students applying for any tuition scholarship must submit the following to the School of Social Work:
- Ph.D. in Social Work Application for Financial Aid
- A copy of your most recently filed Income Tax Form (1040)
- A copy of your Student Aid Report (SAR) based on your FAFSA (For further information on the FAFSA and SAR, please visit the How to Apply for Financial Aid page.)
- Any other supporting material required by a given form of financial aid such as the Rothman scholarship.
In order for you to be considered for financial aid for the upcoming academic year (August to August in the Doctoral Program) your financial aid application materials must be on file at the School of Social Work by June 15.
Students should not plan on scholarship assistance in the first term of the program, since awards are based partly on demonstrated academic strength.
