Purpose: Cultivate ethical leaders

This leadership conference is a unique one-day experience bringing together student leaders from across the Barry University campus with a focus on the development of skills that will motivate and empower them to embrace social responsibility. These leaders include students from various leadership positions and organizations such as the International Assistants, the Caribbean Student Association, Black Student Association, Latin American Student Association, Resident Assistants, Campus Activities Board, Student Government Association, Alumni Ambassadors, Orientation Leaders, Habitat for Humanity, a host of fraternities, sororities, and honors societies. With different purposes, these student leaders of Barry unite with students from various South Florida Universities for one common value -- service to others. Unlike many university leadership conferences for students, this event focuses on social justice and global/world change.
Throughout the leadership conference students will learn and understand that each of our daily actions, efforts, and prayers, whether it is within our organizations, respective positions, or classrooms, have a ripple effect that will affect our schools, our communities, and our world exponentially. Specifically, this conference will provide participants with a model for greater understanding of both individual and collaborative approaches to leadership development through the use of the Social Change Model. It is through this model that we will explore principles such as consciousness of self, collaboration, common purpose, citizenship and social justice, and an additional portion of serving and enhancing the community.
