Chemistry and Physics Seminar Series

Chemistry and Physics Seminar Series

The Department of Physical Sciences is pleased to invite the Barry community to a seminar by Cristina Avila, Barry alumna, class of 2010.

Date: Thursday, Jan. 29, 2015
Time: 4-6 p.m.
Location: Gato Gallery

Currently a fourth year osteopathic medical student at Nova Southeastern University (NSU), Avila is in the process of applying to residency programs in Family Medicine. After high school, she entered Miami-Dade College (MDC) and eventually transferred to Barry where she completed her degree in chemistry with a specialization in biochemistry, with honors, and was later accepted to NSU to complete her medical degree.

Her interest in scholarship led her to undertake extensive clinical research experiences. As an undergraduate she was involved in two chemistry research projects that resulted in a co-authored publication and an internship at the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory. As a medical student she continued her research experience in trauma surgery and again completed a co-authored publication.

Please join us for refreshments immediately following the talk.
