PEMBROKE PINES, Fla. – Barry University sophomore men’s tennis player Nico Dreer won the Pembroke Lakes Invitational singles title Tuesday.
Dreer beat Nicolas Mejia, 6-2, 6-3, in the finals at Pembroke Lakes Golf & Racquet Club. The championship match was postponed until Tuesday due to rain Monday, when both the semifinals and finals were scheduled to be played.
In Monday’s semifinals, Dreer defeated Buccaneers teammate Fabian Pronnet, 6-1, 6-3.
Dreer also won the Varner Invitational doubles tournament earlier this fall.
Barry will conclude the fall season Oct. 31-Nov. 2 at the Florida Gulf Coast Eagle Invitational.
